Hi All
Sorry for the second post
I keep getting the message "Mac Error -43 (File Not found)
It just appears now and then and I am not doing anything in particular it is very annoying I thought that upgrading to 5.52 from 5.5 might clear it but does not.
I only get it on this machine and not on others when using the same media files a little help
Cheers
Jon

Jon:Be advised that 10.6.7 is not yet qualified for Media Composer. That could be the reason. More details at the Version Matrix. Check your Quicktime version too.

Thanks for that I just rolled back to 10.6.6 and guess what 5 mins in and up it popped again aghhhh
And you can't discern any kind of pattern in your workflow that triggers it? Like parking on the same clip in the timeline?
No it is very odd different projects different formats and media on differnt drives it would be helpful to be able to find out what -43 actually means its a bit cryptic.
P.S. only started after upgrading to 5.5 mc 4 was fine
-43 is an "unexpected end of file" error. Which usually means it went looking for a file and found random garbage instead. This can mean one of two probable things: the file it is looking for is corrupted (or the hard drive's catalog is), or the file system is wonky (like FAT 32 or a networked drive).
We've had this problem come up a number of times when working with our Editshare system (a Linux box) trying to write to Windows formatted network partitions. The solution for us was to not use Apple's network system to write to Windows drives but to buy DAVE (which solved all of our issues).
Hi Thanks for that one tried DAVE but still the same so made the machine stand alone with no network and bang there it is again
aghhhh
Hi Thanks for that got the demo version of DAVE and had a try but still the same so tried making the Machine a Stand alone removed all networking and Bang Still there aghhh
Are you using TimeCapsule or TimeMachine disk connected to AirPort?
Started on MC 5.12 NuBus
Ahh good point will turn it off
Nope was off
Hello there!
I get the error using TimeMachine. I thought I was smart backing up the Media Composer folders using TimeMachine. Does anyone know if there is a workaround?
Exclude the disk or folder from the Time Machine preferences.
Must think of something clever to go here...
I know that is the solution, but it would be so easy if I could backup the mediacomposer shared folder through TimeMachine, isn't that possible at all?
The problem is Time Machine runs in the background and when it sees changes it will grab a file while it copies it. If MC needs that file it can't get it at that momment and an error occurs.
Don;t use any automated backup system for MC application or user files. Use best practice and do regular saves and make copies of projects to external media at the end of each session.
