I want to merge metadata from an ALE which contains the columns Name, Tracks, Start, Duration and a custom column 'PistesAudio' to a bin which already contains the clips in the ALE.
When I import the ALE to a bin which already contains the clips, the import doesn't fill my custom column but resets all the other data in the other columns (eg. TapeID, sound roll etc.) (I'm in the Bin 'Text' view with a minimum of columns displayed, import settings set to merge with existing master clips)
If I close the bin, and restore a copy I made before the import, I find my original metadata, and I can find the column Pistesaudio (without the capital a... ?!) in the select column window (it somehow kept it in memory) - if I select it then I find the previously imported data....
i) is this normal behaviour? - it seems odd that the ALE resets data that is not contained within it.
ii) does anyone know of a means of adding data to a column from an ALE without losing data previously entered? (other that the rather cumbersome workaround I stumbled upon which doesn't particularly reassure me)

Merging metadata into existing clips is not selective and is a "replace all" type of merge. Also, as an FYI, column heading must match exactly, upper/lowercase, etc, in order to be considered the same.
