    DVCPRO and DS-1500

Hey all, I hope this is in the right spot.

I am trying to play a DVCPRO tape in my DSR-1500. Normally when I get a format I can't handle (ie. DVCPRO 50) I will see timecode and scrambled video. With these tapes, I am unable to get anything. No timecode, audio or video. My theory is the tapes are blank, though the production house swears they are not. I have also tried to play them on an HVR deck with similar results.

Has nyone had this issue before?

Are you seeing time code or control track on the DSR-1500?  Have you tried the tape in a DVCPro deck just to confirm they are blank?  I do know that the DSR-1500's bigger brother, the DSR-2000, will play DVCPro tapes over the composite and component outputs, but NOT the firewire output.

No timecode or control. The tapes are on their way now to someone with a DVCPro deck to check exactly that. I should be hearing back tomorrow.

Tried every output from the DSR except the firewire, oddly enough. No signal through SDI, Component or Composite. I'll be sure to post when I hear if the DVCPro deck was able to see video.

    Re: DVCPRO and DS-1500

We got the tapes back from the transfer house and they were able to transfer them no problem. Apparently the DSR-1500 is completely unable to read anything off of DVCPRO HD formats. Though I still find it strange that it was able to see TC and scrambled video when looking at DVCPro 50.

Either way, it worked. Thanks for the help!
