Re: Avid Marketing (DS) vs. Autodesk Marketing

    Statement should Read:

“One attendee identified himself as a Dual-Boot operator. “I love what you are adding to MC and Symphony but I love my DS” he said “How do you get them to talk to each other better?”

    From Said Dual-Boot Operator

Re: Avid Marketing (DS) vs. Autodesk Marketing

So why  not report what was really said?

Terry, I know it wasn't you. So  i'd like to know why the reporter cut off some of Erik's question.. Avid pressure to remove negative comments? then the appearance of Kirk and Gary is/was nothing more than an elaborate movie review.

"Two Thumbs up" says the Rolling Stone.

In context "the movie was so bad you could put two thumbs up you *** and get more enjoyment."

    see what i mean..

I realize the Editors Lounhge isn't a DS event, but for that matter, it wasn't an MC event either, was it? yet, that's all Avid wants to talk about.

[EDIT] OK, i see Debra edited her article to include the whole statement. i feel better now.

I think you'll find that this statement has by now been corrected in said article.

But of course, an evil marketing scheme is much more likely.

That's making the assumption that there is marketing scheme be turned into evil... i sorta doubt that there's a marketing scheme what.so.ever... evil or kind...

My prediction is that AD will have a piccie of "House shot on 5D" on their website with the excuse that a small station in Oz made a local on-air promo with McSchmoook long before Avid has any yap what so ever...

    Kirk Arnold said "game changer".

There's someone who obviously does not read Avid-L.

Re: Avid Marketing (DS) vs. Autodesk Marketing

    Terry,

Thanks for putting this event together it is a unique opportunity to speak openly to top management. I applaud Gary and Kirk for honestly taking any and all questions from users. Under their leadership there has been change and you can see that momentum with MC5. I do think asking about the entire line of editorial products is a fair question and good for overall marketing. I respect their current focus on the story telling/MC5 family of products but I want to know how they see themselves in the high end finishing market as well. Speaking openly about where, as a finisher, I would like to see improvements is far from raising hell or causing trouble. Like you I want to be using the best tools for the job. I may not agree with how they choose to use their resources but like every passionate Avid user want to help them and us succeed in the market place.

Re: Avid Marketing (DS) vs. Autodesk Marketing

OK, OK way too formal of a response I agree Terry. It just makes you shake your head when a company allows a percevied competition amongst its own products go on and on. You would think they get enough of that from the other manufacturers. My frustration is with Avid's choices ... ;-( .

Been many years of that. It is getting much better though. Guess we'll have to see what the new marketing team does.

Indeed, but at least this time the team is headed up by someone who appears to actually know something about the subject.  That's gotta be a first.
