Heck I am just the messanger..... :)
I dont think it is that difficult to fix but Brian or one of the engineers may claim otherwise. Now that it is reprodcued consistantly, logged and in line to fix... I dont think it will be too long.

I am the one who maintains that part of the code, so I can tell you there is no way that the setting sticks. There is some history to this, having to deal with moving your project around to other systems with a different hardware configuration. We chose "Draft" quality because it is supported in every configuration: software-only, Adrenaline/Mojo, DX and Nitris Classic.
I will make certain that making this setting persistent gets on our backlog.

Using my Matrox unit the system always starts up where I left it at the last shutdown, might it be also green-green or green 10 bits.
When not having the Matrox unit connected it defaults to yellow-green at upstart

While there are active posts on video quality can anyone confirm that the video quality setting for the timeline doesn't affect digital cut or file exports.
I ask because we had a field issue some time back that wasn't spotted and we discovered that a lower timeline display quality was affecting digital cut with no warning to the operator.
We now always ensure high quality is on before an export or digital cut but I'm hoping V5.0 V5.5 and V6.0 all digital cut and export at high quality by default.

Pat, a file is a file is a file I think so plain exports, no matter if it is digital cuts shouldn´t be affected by the quality mode, quite another thing of course if you are playing right out through a hardware unit.
Regarding Pal field issues I have seen some, especially on the SD side, should we maybe take this in another thread and continue the discussion, there are some things that needs to be fixed on the Pal side I think.
Pat Horridge:can anyone confirm that the video quality setting for the timeline doesn't affect digital cut or file exports.
Hi there! I see it's been a few years since this last post, has there been any progress? I, too, seem to have the problem of the video quality setting alwasy reverting to draft anytime I open a project.
I am using MC 6.5.4, with a Matrox MX02 Mini, software ver 4.2.
Sorry to dredge up these requests form 2009 & 2014 but I have this problem too... Marianna is there still a toolset menu in MC 8.4 ? I'd like to try out the tip you shared back then but think maybe I am looking in the wrong places...
