XDCAM SD and AAF export for Protools - Please HELP!

    Hi

I got a series shot on XDCAM SD IMX 40.

the workflow was the standard proxy import for offline and batch import the hi-res for online.

when i export an AAF to protools i'm getting missing clips on the AAF.

when i import that AAF back into avid - all is ok, but when i import it into Protools, some clips are just missing and i'm getting nothing in the protools timeline. not even a empty sound squre, nothing, like there was no audio on my sequnce.

I tried export the AAF from both MC 4.0.3 and 2.8 into two different versions of Protools - 7.3.1 and 7.4.2 - no luck.

this only happens on the XDCAM footage, music tracks, sound FX, and other all worked ok in the AAF.

    any idea?

    Thanks

It is important that when you work in HD or any other FORMAT, that you change the FORMAT setting to SD (25p or 25i for PAL) before you make the AAF file. Then "Consolidate and Embed" the AAF file. Also make sure that the audio tracks are active (little speakers on) and selected with your in-out markers.

The reason could be that you have different types of files on your timeline and only some are exported. Good luck

I was having a similar problem. Most of the footage is captured at DNxHD but there is some imported XDCAM EX footage. The AAF I sent to the post facility was missing files. And it was always the XDCAM EX footage. They figured out what was happening. They had to set Pro Tools to show rendered files.

Because the XDCAM EX footage was shot at 23.98 but edited in a 59.94 sequence, that footage had to be rendered to add the pulldown. Those clips seemed to be missing until they set Pro Tools to show renders.

Not sure if it is the same issue, but it's worth a shot.
