Avid DVD - Adding Subtitles - Part 1

Unfortunately subtitles created within MC, using the SubCap Generator, cannot be easily imported into AvidDVD.
If you want to work with subtitles in one or more languages and give the viewer the possibility of choosing which they want to have on-screen, AvidDVD offers a better solution.
These 3 tutorials will hopefully give you a little insight into how AvidDVD deals with subtitles.

    Part 1. Getting started

    Regards,
    Douglas

Nice one Douglas, you do remember swedish rather well, we have to have more conversations in swedish I think to refresh your memory from time to time.

All your swedish spelling was excellent except for that you forgot a " t " in the word svensk at the first part you wrote so the correct spelling should be

" detta är ett svenskt spår "

Re: Avid DVD - Adding Subtitles - Part 1

Hi guys, just a quick question. I'm new to the site and thought I would watch a few tutorials that some of you have kindly taken the time to put together, but sadly when i click play nothing happens. I'm guessing i need to download/update a codec. I just wondered if anyone had any idea's as to what i need? Im trying to view the files on a mac ibook, 2.16GHz, 1GB RAM running OSX version 10.4.11

    Regards,

    Carl

    Carl,

The problem lies with your OS and Browser I think.

Here is a quote from Adam Kranitz of the Avid Team.

    "

    Hi Gents,

If you're using Firefox (Mac or PC), certain FF extensions will actually block the playback of Flash video on this site. AdBlocker is a known example of a FF extension that causes the problem. The only way around it is to disable the offending FF extension.

If you're using Safari (Mac) the browser will not play the flash videos, no way around it.

It's actually not due to JW Flash Player 3.0 itself, but the way in which the software that powers Avid Community uses JW Flash Player. We have an upgrade to the community software in the works which should eliminate both these problems.

    Adam"

    Hope this answers your question.

    Regards,

    Douglas

Thanks Douglas, I've just downloaded FireFox 3.5 and everything works just fine.
