I wish to pan /scan at SD resolution or less within HD media for a SD or less target (e.g. standard DVD or web). Some people (e.g. at [http://community.avid.com/forums/p/59728/361229.aspx] say this is not possible in a straightforward manner. Is that still true? Is the suggested workaround in Boris the best alternative? Is it possible to do pan/scan per component clip of multicam?

I wonder if you can get any help from these 2 tutorials I posted a few days ago?

Avid Pan & Zoom only works on stills - Can't speak for Boris.
When I need to do this, I import the HD footage into an SD After Effects project and move around it using Scale and Position in AFX.
Boris will do the job, search for HD pan and zoom in the posts from Mr Difficult.

Here it is!
Thank you everyone for those tips. I will try out the Boris technique when I get access to an Avid (soon). And Douglas, it's great that you leave your mistakes in your tutorials - I strongly relate to that kind of thing!

I think you can learn a lot from making mistakes.Showing common mistakes as well as showing how to succeed are integral parts that I feel should be included in Tutorials.By the way you have no idea how many mistakes I have made when doing those tutorials.I have an idea for a future Tutorial called "Out-takes"

Douglas
