    Superimposing Question

Can someone please explain to me how to superimpose? I've searched the forums, and everything I've come up with is advanced superimposition questions. I just want to put one clip on top of another.

I've created a second video track, added a superimpose effect to that clip and the one below it and adjusted the "Foreground" part to a desired number on both. All it does it lower the opacity of the top clip. I've tried adjusting the settings for the end marker/acceleration and nothing is happening. Help?

That's exactly the way that a superimpose works.  However you don't need to apply the effect to both layers, just the uppermost.

It sounds like this isn't what you wanted to see though.  What visually are you trying to achieve?  If you can describe it to us we should be able to point you in the right direction.

Do not add the superimpose effect to the bottom track: it will fade to black.

Is the OP perhaps looking for Picture-In-Picture? One image, at full opacity, on top of another?

Sounds like a standard superimpose to me. As has been pointed out, place your superimpose effect ONLY on the clip on V2. The clip on V1 should have no effect on it. Adjust foreground opacity until you're satisfied with the results.

    Re: Superimposing Question

There is a free plug-in from Profound Effects called Transfer. It is an AVX plug-in for Avid editing systems. It has great control of fading opacity level. I don't remember how I stumbled upon it, but it is available at Digital Media Net http://images.digitalmedianet.com/projects/profoundeffects/plugins/free_plugins.htm

    I found this great plug-in through http://www.mediaassist.demon.nl/avid/tip1.pdf
