hey there,
i installed mc 3.0 on a new mbp 15" and everytime i try to import p2 material from the root directory the application quits unexpectly. also my attempts to digitize from a hdv deck have failed. it acts like its going to digitize but then stops and tells me that the incoming video has been lost. i'm running os 10.5.4 and quicktime 7.5 which are both more current than the blessed versions for mc 3.0. has anyone heard of issues caused by the latest versions of os 10 and quicktime?
thanks,
fred
Hi sundog,
Can you go to your profile and fill out your system specs. Then if you could give a detailed list of how you are bring in the P2 media.
I import P2 media all the time on a G4 Powerbook and also an iMac from an external HDD and have no issues even with the versions that you state above.
Steve.
hi steve,
i've added system specs. currently the only p2 material i have is from the panasonic hvx-200 demo disc. i created a p2 test footage folder on the fw 800 drive then copy the contents folder and lastclip.txt file into this test footage folder. then i eject the dvd. open a 1080i 59.94 project (the footage on the disc is 1080i 59.94) in avid, open a bin, select import p2, select the folder called p2 test footage and it starts to import and crashes about half way through. i'm going to try digitizing off our dvcpro hd deck today when it becomes available. we currently shot with the varicam and have a media composer adrenaline system but are wanting to put a laptop system together and are looking to go tapeless with p2 in the future.
It's hard to say but the media on the Demo disk could have a corrupt file and anything like that. You need to get hold of some P2 footage off a P2 card or that has been copied to a HDD.
I can't see anything wrong with your system specs., even through they are newer versions than what Avid have stated for this release of MC. I am running the same software as you and am able to import just fine. I have in one case had a issue where MC could not see an media on an external FW HDD. Are you able to copy the media to an internal partition (not your system os if possible) and try File/Import Clips to Bin from the internal HDD just to see if it is permissions etc related or it has to do with the Demo disk media.
finally got my hands on a p2 card and it imports fine. try it off the card and copying footage to HDD. thanks for the input.
Glad to here it's all working fine.
