I followed the link and put in my serial # for ver 4.5 and their computer says it's not valid. I wrote to them but no response yet. has anyone had success? I think it's for $99 instead of $199... sasha
sasha1,
I got it yesterday for $99.95. First you have to register, and than use your version 4.5 serial number in provided space. Later on you have to complete the application, next when you advance to the next page, you have to provide the user name and the pass code. later on you will get the email like the one bellow.

Thank you for creating an account with Sorenson Media. This process is almost complete. To verify that this email address is correct we are including in this email an activation code. To activate your account you must enter this code (found below) into the page prompting you to enter it. If you no longer have that page infront of you, you may find it by visiting http://www
Once activated you will have full access to our website, including downloading free trials, managing subscriptions to our newsletters and purchasing products.
After, this step I got the access to the download page with the option of downloading either PC or the Mac platform for $99.95 only. Good luck.

Sorenson Media Sales Team: I wanted to chime in on the confusion related to those who have upgraded to MC 2.8 and were told that Sorenson Media would provide a free upgrade path to Squeeze 5. First of all, my apologies if Sorenson Media was in any way the source of this confusion. I think there were a couple of scenarios that were unique and in the interest of supporting the customer, we may have given a free upgrade. While I wish we could do this for everyone, significant development & engineering resources were invested into Squeeze 5 which translates into costs and subsequently, the need to charge for the upgrade. We have, and will continue to offer free patches but the previous version of Squeeze had been out for roughly 18 months and Squeeze 5 offers significant enhancements so we felt $199 was a fair upgrade price. That being said, we have heard from many Avid users who thought the upgrade was free or should be significantly less. We want you to benefit from the new & improved codecs, improved workflow, and other enhancements so we’ve decided to put together a better upgrade price for Avid users wishing to upgrade Squeeze. Please visit: http://www.sorensonmedia.com/avid Once logged into this section of our website you will be able to purchase upgrades to the new Squeeze 5 at a discounted price. We hope that you’ll share this with other Avid users.

So in other words Sorenson v5 will never be part of MC Suite? Or only from v3.0?
i don't think they can answer that with 100% certainty. Bundling in this case is between Sorenson and Avid execs - not sales.

I understand that and I also appreciate the effort - $99 isn't that much money if you need the new features of S5 - but we need a clear answer.
Can't argue with that. Hopefully, Avid and Sorenson can give us a more definitive answer.
