Hi everyone,
I'm starting a project that will be shot with the Ikegami Editcam - which records MXF files directly with the DNxHD Codec.
But I haven't found a way to view the footage in the field without purchasing and installing Media Composer on my laptop.
Does anyone know of a viewing software that will play MXF files with the DNxHD Codec (that doesn't cost too much)? Or any other suggestions?
Thanks,
rob
Drastic Preview does OMF and is pretty cheap. It might do MXF too, I haven't checked in a while.
I trust orange juice more than I trust most people.
Thanks for the suggestion. I just downloaded and tried drastic preview. It promises to play mxf, but it woudn't play my files. It recognizes them, but it just shows a black screen.
Are the Avid DNxHD codecs installed on that system? you can download them from Avid's Support Site.
Happy Editing!
Yeah. I had already downloaded them from the site and they installed themselves at least into quicktime. i couldn't figure out where to install them in the drastic view folder - if necessary.
but i couldn't get drastic view to play anything correctly - mpg's or avi's even mp3's. even tried it on a couple of PC's. I must be doing something wrong.

I tried the Scribe Lite and Pro - both show an error reading the "essence" in the file.
