    macOS Ventura 13.0

Wow the window to upgrade to the latest MC version (2022.10) compatible with the latest macOS version (12.6) is already closed. That lasted a couple of weeks.

Any advice on how to get notified when MC will be compatible with macOS Ventura 13.0?

Am I the last guy to be using a Mac with Media Composer? How is this not a problem?

Thanks RalphC!  Is there any way to get a notice whenever the matrix is updated? Or do I just have to keep checking it every day/week, etc.?

On that Matrix page, look at the top right-hand column.  You should see a "Subscribe" link. This will email you wnenever there is a change.

It will email the email address you used for your MyAvid account.

Aah -- when we post updates to it, we have two options: Notify or Don't Notifty, and the interface places them a little too close together for my taste. It's entirely possible we hit the wrong one.

It sounds like you're saying I should not rely on getting an update and check it very few days...

Yes I understand. It's just frustrating trying to stay on the mac platform since I started editing with the Avid 800 in the early 90s. I've been through a lot...

I'm with ya. After a few decades I'm finding myself doing tutorials for other NLEs in the evenings, all pumping out Ventura/M1 and M2 updates regularly while MC languishes on Rosetta. Almost 2023. FFS.

Avid has a much larger job than the other NLEs when it comes to converting ever line of code to a new paradigm.  We have completed most of the work, and are getting close to done.  We appreciate your patience.

Than ks for your response. Timelines. Everyone works to timelines. Users are important, you'll agree, and they work to timelines. But Avid NEVER share estimates of when something will come out. Why not? So Users/Customers/Clients cannot buy or upgrade - we're in a vaccum. Even if it takes 2 years to get your heads around M1/Silicon, just say it! One year ago a rep from Avid said on these forums they say MC run on M1 natively and it was great. What is wrong with communicating???? Sorry, but Avid is not Apple or NASA. We're talking about what should be a straighforward upgrade/transition. Speaking of timelines - Apple released their first M1 hardware in November 2020 and developers had been working on it many months before.

As a one-time software developer, I can tell you exactly why not.  It's not likely to be because they have some ulterior motive, but because they genuinely don't know.  Porting code from one platform to another is never trivial for any but the smallest projects.  When you have the amount of code from the different development sources that Avid has to deal with, multiple orders of dificulty will be added.  Delivery dates are hard to impossible to give.

Avid could of course rush the conversion process to deliver to a deadline imposed by the marketing department.  The inevitable result would be a storm of bug reports generated by the hidden flaws discovered by users when the updated version was released.  Estimates of delivery schedules can and will only work when a small block of code is all that is in need of change.  That is unlikely to be what Avid is dealing with here.

Bottom line:  Avid aren't fools.  Every time they cannot deliver to a particular platform they lose a sale.  Do you really think that they aren't aware of that fact?  And no, I'm not in any way associated with Avid.  In fact I'm a moderator on another NLE forum, so arguably it would be more in my interest to pour fuel on this fire, not try to damp it down.

But all the other vendors have the same issue but they can manage while AVID cant. Not good enough.

I got the email notification today that MC 2022.10 is compatible with Ventura 13.0

The Apple update version right now is 13.0.1

I am guessing that MC 2022.10 (13.0) will work with Apple 13.0.1 - How important can the .1 be?
