I have been doing some work in After effects (simple lower thirds templates supplied by client).
I usually output DNxHD files with alpha channel from AE and link to MC. This is so thsat I can amend the AE file (if necessary) and re-output to same file name and it will automatically update in MC.
For soe reason this seems to have stopped working. MC seems to have a problem with the alpha channel and produces exception errors. I made sure I had the correct Nvidia drivers installed and upgraded to 2022.10 but it hasne resolved the issue.
If I do the export from AE as Prores 4444 with alpha it all works, but the Avid DNxHD (or DNxHR) cause MC to freeze.
I wondered if anyone else has encountered the issue and if so worked out what the cause is. Meanwhile the workaround appear to be work in ProRes4444.

Does this happen on one project or multiple projects?
which version of MC were you using prior to 2022.10?
Editing Movie Magic.
My Equipment & System Specs
Media Composer Ultimate 2022.7 | Pro Tools Studio 2022.7 | Avid Play | Sibelius Artist 2022.7
You might have better luck and better quality if you output a PNG sequence, rgb + alpha file from After Effects.

Hi Phillip - This happens on multiple projects. I was running version 2022.7 prior to the upgrade however linking to output from After Effects has been unreliable for some time, it seems since the implementation of UME instead of Quicktime it seems.
I'm thinking I should do a clean install on MC instead of the 'in-place' upgrade. As soon as I get a moment ...
Thanks for the suggestion. Bizarely, using a ProRes output from AE works better than a DNxHD one.
Is AfterEffects running off a recent Mac? If yes I'm not surprised, Apple only want You to use ProRes, they're killing support for other file formats.
