Hiya!
I'm pretty new to using media composer and I'm having trouble importing any files. I have tried following a tutorial to the letter but the moment I import them nothing seems to show up in my bins. I have tried dragging and dropping, importing media but nothing seems to be appearing. Any help would be much appreciated!
Hi,
Instead of importing, try linking & transcoding instead. Link & transcode is a newer workflow that works with more file types, is faster, and the resulting clips are the same as if you had imported them.
There are a lot of tutorials if you google 'avid link and transcode'.

Hiya to You too! And welcome to the forums. I can see that recent MC releases have the bad habit of not drag and drop importing stuff without even spitting out an error message as to why that is happening. I thought that was mostly on Mac, but I was wrong. Use the source browser instead of drag and drop, either for link and transcode or import. If MC cannot import a file via the source browser it will politely ask You if You want to link and transcode the offending clip. Please also male sure that You have the relevant AMA plugins installed, if the files You're trying to import are not natively supported by MC.
