USB mic punch in over cable extension or network

Hello, we considering a special setup and I need your help.

Two rooms, devided by a wall with a small window. One person would stand in the first, silent room and speak into a Rode NT USB mic, while the other would sit in the next room (PC workstation) then editing this via punch in imported audio recordings.

Since USB 2.0 cables cannot be longer than 3-5 meters, how should we extent those?
Via one of those USB to Ethernet back to USB boxes or is it even possible to go over our gibabit ethernet to accomplish this?

    Thank you,
    Raúl

Have you ever tried using an USB cable with an active repeater. Then you will get more then 3 to 5 meters.
