    MC sends incorrect frames to plug-in

    A bug report: MC sends wrong frames to Neat Video if Effect Editor is open in MC.

    Using:
    - MC 2022.4 Windows
    - Neat Video 5.5.1 plug-in for Media Composer

    The plug-in implements IAVXTimeNeighborhood interface. GetInputFrameRange() sets inputFrameRange to be wider than outputFrameRange by N>0 from both sides, ex. inputFrameRange = (outputFrameRange.first - N, outputFrameRange.last + N)

    Steps to reproduce:
    1) Create a FHD 25 FPS project, import a FDH video clip (preferably with a timecode embedded into each frame to easier see the issue) and create a timeline with this clip on;
    2) Set the timeline selector somewhere in the middle of the clip, note the number of the frame displayed in the Preview window;
    3) Open the Effect Editor in MC;
    4) Apply the Neat Video plug-in to the clip;
    5) Observe that the frame has changed (randomly) while the timeline selector stays at the same position on the timeline;
    6) Step a few frames one by one forward and backward on the timeline;
    7) Observe that the frames displayed in the Preview window are not changing sequentially.

    Notes:
    The issue is not reproducible, when the Effect Editor is hidden.

    Please kindly confirm if you can reproduce this.

    Thank you,
    Vlad

    Re: MC sends incorrect frames to plug-in

    Hi Vlad,

    Yes, this issue can be seen with Media Composer.

    The problem is specific to plug-ins that support the IAVXTimeNeighborhood effect.  It looks like the Neat plug-in should be able to work without supporting this interface, though using this interface is likely improving render performance.

    Also, the other conditions that are needed to get the problem are that:

    - the Media Composer VideoPlayback/FX Editing Cache settings need to be turned on.  (If caching is OFF the problem disappears.)

    - (as mentioned previously) the Effect Editor needs to be up.

    A bug has been added to the backlog.

    Sincerely, Tim.
