Applying multiple resizes error (long term bug)

This bug has been around since v2018 at least, maybe longer.  Now I'm in 2022.7 and it is still here.

    https://imgur.com/a/vHaxwjm

I have a simple resize effect in a bin (say scale = 105, no keyframes) and I want to apply it to a series of shots in my timeline.  Normally I can select all the segments (lasso or segment tool clicking) and then double click on the resize in the bin and it will apply the resize effect to all the shots.  Perfect!

However, if the segments in question have color-correction applied AND are not at the sequence framerate, trying to apply the resize to multiple effects will give an error:  "Exception: CM_INVALID_SUBID, subIDParam:374".

So in my current edit I have some 29.97 footage in a 23.98 timeline with color correction applied and I am once again getting this error.  It does not occur on 23.98 footage, only on other timebases.

When the error occurs and I press "okay", the resizes and many other effects (maybe all?) disappear from my timeline.  But hitting undo returns to normalcy.  Applying the resize effect one at at a time will not produce the error.   The same problem occurs with a 3dwarp.

Re: Applying multiple resizes error (long term bug)

I just made a screen recording and this time it caused the error regardless of whether the clip was 23.98 or 29.97.

So let's just say the bug is – if you "batch apply" a resize or 3dwarp to multiple clips with color-corrections you will get an error you MUST undo to keep editing.

If you apply the resizes one at a time, all is well.

Here is a recording of this bug which has been around for 4+ years.

Not sure what you are attempting. To add an additional effect you need to Autonest (Option key). I did a test just now. A 720P project (23.98 fps). I edited a mixture of 23.98 fps, 25 fps, 29.97 fps and 59.94 together and applied CC presets to them all. Then 1) Selected all and appplied a Resize 105% as you mentioned). That, of course, removes the previous effects. Undo and Autonest the Resize and everyting works. MC 2022.7.

Re: Applying multiple resizes error (long term bug)

Apologies because the video isn't super clear (you can't see what I'm doing exactly).  Regardless of what I'm doing, I shouldn't be getting a disabling error.   But to be clear, what I'm doing is supposed to work.

Re: "auto nest".  I do not want to do this - I do know about that function.  I am applying resizes to multiple segments individually.   If you double-click with the option key, you nest the segments.  If you double-click without option key Avid applies the effects individually.

    Normal behavior:

    • I have 5 segments selected in timeline with no effects on them.  I double-click on a effect from one of my bins.  Avid will apply the effect to all 5 segments individually.

    Bug:

    • If the selected segments have color correction, I get the error shown in the video.   The error also causes the effect icons to disappear (as seen in the video) and the timeline to become un-editable until the "batch apply" is undone.

This only happens if I have more than one color-corrected segment selected.  I can select one segment, apply effect, select next segment, apply effect, etc.  It's just the "batch apply" functionality that crashes when color-correction is involved.

EDIT: This bug has been in existence on Mac Avid for many years.  I have had this problem consistently on multiple systems (I'd guess at least 5 different Mac systems) over mulitple versions of Avid v2018 and now v2022 also.
