Why is Avid DVD not supported anymore?
Now that I can no longer use Avid DVD by sonic with windows 10, can everyone chime in on what they are using to Author dvds and Bluray? what is an equivalent authoring program or programs that do what Avid DVD did?
I am looking to make custom menus, set manual chapters, adjust the bit rate and all the other great things Avid DVD did. Searching the internet just gets me ads for *** software.
Please help.
I have had good experiences using TMPG Enc Authoring Works. I gave it DNx codec .mov files and let it encode, and it has options to encode with other software as well. Free for 30 days, if you want to try it.
Thanks,
I am trying the trial now. It seems like its going to take an extemely long time to make a bluray. 8 hours for 1 hour of video. that doesnt seem right.
also, i cant seem to delete buttons from the preset menu. why has all this software gotten so clunky? thanks for responding but the search continues.
If you are encoding to AVC rather than mpeg-2 that time seems right on a PC of that capability.
Using MC 22.12. Win 22H2 Avid FX6.4, Vegas Pro 20/ DVD Architect 6pro, DVDit6.4proHD, CCE Basic, TmpGe Express4, TmpGe Authoring Works 4, DVDLab-Studio. Sony EX-1R, Canon XH-A1, GL2, GL1, Canon EOS 60D
OMG! I haven't updated my specs in forever. I think ive uprgraded my pc 3 or 4 times since I registered here. im using an i7-4770 3.50 CPU so it shouldnt take that long.
However, I found a fix last night. I ran avid dvd in windows 7 compatibility mode and the program worked! I was able to preview the authored bluray and I created a bd volume. From there i used IMG burn and created an ISO. Problem solved for now but I would still like to know what people are using that is equivalent to Avid DVD for the future.
If you have access to an older system with Avid DVD installed on it that's great, because you are probably not going to find software anymore that works like Avid DVD, Adobe Encore DVD, Sony DVD Architect, Apple DVD Studio Pro. These programs are all discontinued because DVD's, Blu-ray's and other optical media are as good as dead. Especially for small runs. Digital files are the standard right now.
I still own a copy of Adobe Encore DVD 6 and Sony DVD Architect 7 on my current Windows system. On an older Mac Pro 4.1, DVD Studio Pro 4 and Adobe Encore DVD 5.5 are still installed.
In the past I used Sorenson Squeeze for encoding. Now I encode everything with Shutter Encoder.
