Can not relink to old master clips to new ones (created in Resolve)

    Hi there,

I've joined a project recently after the previous editor left. After checking the material I figured that some original clips have two different resolutions (720p and 4K) but the lower one was transcoded (in Davinci). I transcoded the higher res files in Davinci, same file name, same tape name as the original but Avid won't relink the new ones. I moved the old mxf files to a non-numbered folder, and the ones into a numbered folder. Is there any trick that I don't know? I must figure this out because later I have to upscale older filed and relink them, too to the old media files.

I hope you can help me out!

    Thanks in advance!

When you delivered from Resolve did you use Resolve's Avid template.  Set the deliver template to export as individual clips and the file destination path to  a currently working Avid number named folder.

When you open MC it will scan and update that media folders database.  You can then go to your numbered media folder and find the newly created  Resolve AAF file. Copy that AAF. Back in MC paste this AAF copy into a new MC bin.

This results in that bin being populated with the new Resolve media and an AAF.  This AAF can be used to create a new timeline that is a string out of all of the new media clips if you want.

As your old MXF media is not now being seen by MC your existing MC cut SHOULD automatically find the new Resolve media.

    Good Luck.

    Dear Andrew,

You were right, I only set the tape name and file name as the previous ones were but I didn't choose Resolve's Avid Template.

    Everything is alright now.

    Thank you very much!
