Can anyone recommend a solution for converting 24fs footage for use inside a 1080p/25 project? I find that the default conversion that MC does when I import the clip is not very smooth. After Effects seems to do a better job, but it is quite a lenghty round trip with a lot of footage.
Using MC 2021.12
I'd speed it up to 25fps. If necessary, have a sound post facility do a proper pitch correction using Pitch'n'Time.
Thanks for your reply. Is there a way of speeding it up to 25fps from within Media Composer? Do I still bring the files in through the Source Browser?
If you bring in the files via Source Browser, it is very easy. Bring them in as usual, then open Source Settings, go to the Playback Rates tab, and choose 25fps (or Project) as the playback speed. If the clips have sound, that will be speeded-up as well, and thereby sound 4.0166666% higher. Hence the possible need to compensate in sound post. You could try and do it with MC's built in Pitch tools, but to be honest, most pitch correction tools sound like crap, which is why Pitch'n'Time is the absolute go-to for this type of conversion.
If this is double system sound, you'd need to also speed up the audio clips before syncing them.
Thank you so much! This works perfectly! And it is quick through Source Browser and Source Settings.
In this case the audio is not a big issue because I really only need the visuals for a tutorial series, but it is good to know what the solution is if I do need to use the audio later on.
Much appreciated!
