Can My Machine Handle Another Update?

My machine is an iMac 27" late 2013, 3.5 GHz, Intel Core i7, 32 GB RAM, running OS Mojave.

My current AVID MC is 2020.12 version.

I wonder if my machine could handle well an AVID MC 2021.9 version, if I update to it.

    Thanks!!!...

What format/frame size media do you work with?

In general, if you're happy with the performance you're getting from v2020, I expect you'll be happy with v2021 also.

Thanks for replying to my post!  Big Smile

I usually work with videos shot at 2K, 16x9, sometimes, although rare, with 4K, and my machine is handling well these jobs. Always deliver/export in 2K and 4K the videos, after finishing editing them on MC, without any issues, fortunately.

My machine is pretty old, I can't update its OS to this current ones, so that's my question: if I update the current version of MC I've been using for the last whole year to 2021.9, would it work fine in my machine without any issues? I mean, there wouldn't be any technical issue on 2021 running under OS Mojave?

    Thanks again!

There have been comments that certain operations have taken a performance hit after updating MC and OS on older hardware. If there are new features that are of benefit, then a move could make sense, otherwise updating MC might work better with new hardware.

Idealy having both machines would insure your productivity woud be unterupted.

I'd definitely stick with Mojave. 2021.9 runs fine on it, and you get to keep all the goodness of the Title Tool and Marquee if you install the Legacy Components package.

That's the thing: my machine is an iMac late 2013, it can't update its OS after the later ones, since the hardware couldn't handle those.

Although I read in this topic that still I could update MC to 2021.9 that my machine could handle it fine.

    Thanks, anyway!
