Hi all,
I am in the testing phase for using Teradici CAS+ for Mac for our offsite editors.
After working through the remote connection set up with IT, we have the connection running securely. I am now faced with an issue that is a deal breaker. When connected remotely by PCoIP and attempting to open an Avid project on the Nexis, Avid MC will freeze when attempting to load local user settings. This has been tested on Avid 21.5, 21.6 and 21.9. Avid freezes when attempting to use/load any user setting or when trying to create new user settings.
The issue is not present when physically using the machine on premises. Projects are able to be opened just fine with any user settings.Has anyone experienced this or have any advice?
Cheers,
James
Is the Avid at the other end licensed to run virtually? Are you logged in as the same user with the same privlidges when both local and remote?
Must think of something clever to go here...
I'm also looking at the CAS+ solution but haven't tested it yet.
So I'm very curious what your findings wil be.
We still use amulet hotkey cards and zero clients in combination with teradici. Very happy with the results.
Hi hbrock,Avid MC installed on the on-prem host machine is licensed as Avid MC Ultimate. It is not licensed virtually, which I do not believe it is needed to be. As this is an on-prem physical machine logged in by Windows AD being accessed by PCoIP.Access priviledges are very the same across both the client and the host. As I have tested further I am no closer to figuring out the issue. Using the same host machine, I have tested nearly 10 other client machines with varying levels of success across varying configurations.
Updating this issue.Teradici support and I determined the work around for this is for the host/agent Mac to have no monitors connected when attempting to launch Avid via a PCOIP connection.
I believe this bug has been raised by Teradici with Avid engineering.
This is exactly what is happening to us right now.
We are using an iMac and a support monitor. We disconnected the monitor but we couldn't open a project in Avid.
If I create new user settings it crashes right away. Any workaround?
Hi Urien,
I have had success logging into the iMac on-premises with the Windows Active Directory login you want to use remotely and opening Avid successfully before attempting PCoIP connection.
After doing this on prem and restarting the iMAc, connect to the iMac remotely via CAS+ PCoIP. making sure the iMac does not have a secondary monitor connected.
For whatever reason, opening Avid on-premises with generic AD user settings before attempting PCoIP clears the Avid crashing on user settings issue.
Cheers
