Hi all. We're starting to see some chatter on possible slow-downs in the T+ interface with extended usage or even adding more and more text. Could be a bug; could be merely an issue with specific computer/OS configs. Unsure yet. That's where YOU come in! To troubleshoot properly, please comment on THIS post any of your experiences, so that we can get info into the teams as quickly as possible. Thanks!Chris Bové

If I have one word, or maybe up to five, it's fine. But when I do a slate, that has show information, file format information, 11 act times and durations, and information for 12 tracks of audio, everything slows down to an absolute CRAWL. Clicking in the right place to make and edit is total guesswork. Changes to the text has a 5-10 second delay...when I delete or change a number. This makes Slate making take 10x longer than it really should. God forbid I duplicate the cut, remove all the text, and then go to edit the slate to say TEXTLESS and where the credits appear. Editing that slate will take 1-2 min, when it should take like 15 seconds.
I find every time I open effect editor with Titler + it lags the whole application. Like what the other user noted, there is a significant delay on text. Sometimes if I backspace 3 characters, Titler will backspace four or five.
Also, there have been countless times that Avid has just crashed upon even opening the Effect Editor on a Titler + clip.
It's delayed me so much at work that I've gone through the motions of angry, sad, to just plain disappointed...
Same here... slow.
Hi everyone, and thanks for the continued feedback. Keep it coming!Just some updates:- The slow-downs everyone is seeing is a known performance issue.- The performance issues are being addressed, and will likely see fixes over the next couple of Media Composer releases.More news to come...
We're seeing the same sluggish interaction when dealing with lots of titles in 2021.3 .5 and .6 on iMacPro1,1, Macmini8,1, and MacPro7,1 using Catalina 10.15.7.
Thanks for addressing this issue.

I have also been getting slow performance with the titler + when editing DNxHD LB media on my 8 core CPU system. I know that's vauge but just adding to the chord of frustration.

Thanks Philip. And keep feedback like this coming. Know that the frustration level will be going down soon, and eventually gone - hopefully by the middle of 2022. Elad and his team are working through the MASSIVE list of changes. You'll probably see performance improvements first - like these slow downs, followed by interface fixes. But I don't want to speculate too far. Thanks!
Slllllooooowwwwww!!!!!
Totally ruins any chance of an efficient workflow. Not good.
Please fix ASAP.

Priority is def performance 1st!!!!!
If something is fast and snappy a motivated person can often work around small bugs.. Also the feedback will be more accurate!
PS ANY NEWS WHEN WE MAY SEE ANY PERFORMANCE IMPROVMENTS!?????
Very frustrating while trying to adjust a rolling title.
We have this issue on a number of machines in a higher education classroom. i7 8-Core Intel iMacs running MacOS 11.6.1 (Big Sur). Media Composer 2021.12
Really disappointing and I'd love to hear what Avid proposes in terms of workarounds for a tool that is completely unworkable due to this bug. How can we possibly continue to recommend using the Titler+ tool?

There is no workaround, as the bug is in the code itself. So, the fix is to actually fix it, which is what the team is doing. We know the performance issues are real for everyone.
Know that the fix is nowhere near an "easy lift".
Everyone always asks us why we couldn't just "take the classic Title Tool and just upgrade it". Doing so was completely impossible. Apple actualy pulled support for many of the codewriting moodules in it, and so Avid needed to create a new titler from scratch. Windows didn't force that, and so the classic Title Tool still works perfectly fine in all Windows implementations.
Over the next few releases of Media Composer is where you'll all see the fixes happen. You'll see the Titler+ mini-tool get some big attention. You'll see big improvements to how the Effect Editor gets used, and you'll indeed see the performance imporovements.
In the meantime, know that a majority of editors and assistants out there for many years have used Boris, After Effects, Endcrawl, or even Photoshop because then the spelling, the design, and the monotony of title creation gets delegated to associate producers, graphic designers, or other members of the production staff outside of the edit bay.
I ran into this HARD this week...and ended up doing things outside of Avid. I had to rebuild credits to be full screen, and change the slate, and the credits alone would have taken nearly two hours because of spinning beach balls and 20-30 seconds of nothing while things updated. So I stopped and rebuilt them in Resolve. That took 30 min, including export and upload for review. I did the same with the slate. So...yeah...until Avid gets this sorted, I'm doing things outside and exporting MXF files to be imported into Avid.
I get that Apple pulled the rug on supporting code but they did announce that years ago.
But the point is the original Title tool UX worked well and was well known and used.
The new Titler + doesn't serve that need.
Avid shoukd re write Title tool in new code to perform as it did before but raster independent.
Nothing fancy. Just a compatible tool with the same UX as before. Keep developing Titler + for those that want more but bring back a titling tool for Avids core user base.
