Hey Avid et al
I am running media composer ultimate on High Sierra Mac OS. It is the latest and greatest version of Avid. When outputing sae as source DNX 36 movie will not play in Quicktime or any of my encoders ie Apple Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder etc. This used to be my M.O. on OS mavericks. Solutions ? I have installed the avid codecs on my Mac but no luck https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/Download/en423319
This one will not even download the codec https://avid.secure.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Avid-QuickTime-Codecs-LE
Any thoughts on how to fix this os I can do same as source outputs and recompress to H.264 on 3rd party software. Will not open in Adobe Media encoder either. Do not want to tie up Avid recompressing to Mp4 in media composer
Cheers
G
Have you tried DNxHR LB (which at HD resolutions is 36mbps)

I have no choice as t the codec. That is how it comes to me. Any suggestions ?
Avid changed the names on the DNxHD codecs when they became resolution independent. DNX LB in HD is DNX 36 with a different name. Unfortunately, computer programs don't do well with nicknames so you need a updated codec package to understand that they're the same. QuickTime Player X will read updated codecs from Apple's ProVideo Formats updates as will Compressor X but...only on 64-bit MacOS versions: 10.14 Catalina or 10.15 Big Sur. QuickTime 7 will shrug it's shoulders and tell you something's weird when you play DNX LB and it's expecting DNX 36. VLC will play almost anything.
If you really want to convert something quickly and with a wide range of codecs, use Resolve. Or export ProRes from Avid so you can use Media Encoder or Compressor.
Must think of something clever to go here...
Are the media creation settings possibly screwing things up ie dissolves fades etc and there renders ? Possibly at another flavor or something ?
Is there a maximum size or duration setting in exports somewhere ?
