Hello,
I just came across a strange behavior in Avid Media Composer 2018.12.15 on an iMac 2019 with OS Mojave 10.14.6, i9, 64GB, Radeo Pro Vega 48 8GB and another Workstation with Windows 10 Pro, i7-8850H, 32GB, NVIDIA Quadro P2000:
When I make a Subclip from a Subclip the reformat information gets lost and is set to stretch again. I am working with archive 4:3 and need Pillarbox/Letterbox. I can change it back to Pillarbox/Letterbox in the Reformat Column, but couldn´t find a way to prevent Avid from going back to stretch. Any ideas how to avoid that Avid changes the Reformat information by itself? This happens to linked Material as well as transcoded Material, to Material with different codecs and is the same under Mac OS Mojave and Windows 10 Pro.
Thank you,
Nadja
Media Composer might be using the setting from the master clip that the sub-clip came from rather than a sub-clip that was used to make another sub-clip. What's the re-format setting of the master clip that the sub-clip is coming from?
Must think of something clever to go here...
Thank you for the answer. The Masterclips are set to Pillarbox/Letterbox.
And the raster size of the master clip is 4x3 or is it 16x9 format?
The raster size of the master clip is 4:3. In the Link-Menu I set it to Pillarbox/Letterbox. When linking the clips are interpreted and shown correctly in 4:3, same by transcoding and making subclips from a linked clip or a transcoded clip. The problem just occurs when I make a subclip from a subclip.
