    Subtle transition ideas?

    Seeking some creative advice.

I've been cutting a bunch of docustyle corporate profiles that all feature a cold open that then transitions into the main body of the piece. The pieces are slow, dramatic pacing (patient profiles) and the genre isn't flashy enough to do custom animated swipe type transitions or heavy Saphhire builds - I need more conservative visual transition ideas.

So far, I've been using dip to blacks, dip through whites, glow blur dissolves, blur dissolves, cut to black - fade up from black, long light leaks...running out of ideas here. Most of these are for the same client so I'm trying to keep it fresh. The pieces themselves aren't part of a series, so consistency isn't necessary.

The challenge stems from the current cutting style being so minimalistic - just cuts with occassional dissolves vs. the heavy-handed stuff of the not-so-distant past. I'm on board with this (let the story be the focus)-- but some of my producers I work with are still stuck on the old "we need a cool transition here"of the 90's/early 00's. So, I'm looking for transitions that will satisy their need for "a transition" and keep in-line with the current new media aesthetic.

Any ideas are welcome. I've got Sapphire and Continuum, but am also open to buying some new plug-ins.

    Regards,

    -Robert

How about instead of black/white only: a well-designed collage page ithat ties the segments together, or builds, with the faces of patients or a memorable freeze frame, treated subtly, and with a unifying look, capturing / recalling the essence of each part...?

    Hi Robert,

Take a look at the FX|Syndrome transitions.

    https://fxsyndrome.io/

They are easy to use and they look great. No cheesy wipes from the early days of NLE. I'm using these a lot lately.
