Hi all,

I'm getting really slow playback performance the second I add a titler + effect onto my sequence. I have to render the titler+ effect in order to preview my title in real time. 

For context, I'm on a 1920x1080 timeline, with DNxHD SQ footage.

I'm on 2021.2 too. is anyone else having slow performance with titler +?

Could you check what happens if you just close the effect pallet?

Yeah, The issue persists when I close the effect pallet. Just went over to an avid facebook group, Multiple users are reporting a similar problem with certified machines. 

We are seeing the same issue: 

- Media Composer 2021.2 on Mac

- Basic Titler+ elements cause dropped frames until you render

Rolling back to 2020.6 fixes it.

Has anyone found a better solution?

I'm having issue with very slow rendering time with Titler plus. A 15 second text took me over half an hour to render just the Titler plus. I'm on MC. 2021.6. Anyone have the solution for this issue?

Wow, That's an awful long time! That is not normal.

What format is your raw footage in ? What are your media creation settings? What's the project's raster size? 

Do you only get this issue on MC 2021.6? Have you tried rolling back?

It doesn't take me half an hour to RENDER a title, i'm just upset I have to render it at all!

I would love the last 2 hours of my life back.

All I needed to do was make slates for a broadcast output.

After an hour making 8 slates, my render time for the first 4 (2 second) slates was 30 MINUTES !!!

I removed all the Title+ material and used Subcap instead.

I never thought I'd say this, BRING BACK TITLE TOOL !!!

a 30 second Titler+ render is taking me 3 hours!

I'm on a beeffy machine running MC 21.6

We need a fix for this ASAP.

I have just finished my Graphics and Typgraphy unit, I edited my film in Avid Media Composer. Although I see where the titler + falls short, I think some are exaggerating here. It's not "that" bad. 

Thanks for the suggestion though, I just render my titles for now.

Let's put it this way, it was MUCH easier doing over 2500 subtitles on a feature length doc back in 1998 on an old Avid Media Composer on an old Mac Quadra system with the old title tool then would be today on the new titler. I have been on Avid for a very long time and by far the new titler is worse than the 1998 title tool.

That's simply not true. Avid has admitted that Titler+ is seriously lacking and is presently invested in improving it. There is a separate forum dedicated to Titler+.

In its present form, Titler+ is barely usable for me exept for the simplest of titles but hopefully that will change over the next few releases.

I can do some fairly advanced titles with the Titler +... playing around with alpha channels, automating sliders in effects controls, etc. I think the titler + can do more than people think. It's just sloooooooooww.
