    Re: Source Browser.

My problem lie in File -> Input -> Source Browser and Text View is empty because I wanted Choose Column and I use All/None. Now my Window with file is empty.

I have this problem as well. Changed settings to none for text view, now I can't get them back.

    Re: Source Browser.

I have my own foolproof way of solving similar problems.
I recommend it to all those who sometimes waste their time on similar matters. I k
eep Project folder on a drive other than the system drive, for example - D: I regularly perform an incremental backup with the Paragon program on a separate NVMe disk and restore it in case of any problems. I make coffee and during this time everything returns to its place.
    I recommend it.

    Re: Source Browser.

Going to try to bump this up, as no solution was posted.

I'm stumped. Accidentally deleted all columns in Source Browser, in Text View. Now nothing appears in Text View (Frame View works as expected) and no way to restore columns-I've right-clicked all over the interface, nada. See attached screen grabs.

Tried trashing any settings file I could find. Updated MCF to 2020.12 from 2020.6; no change. I'd try to make a new User, but can't find how to do that, either, supposed to be in "Settings>User" tab, not there. See screen grab.

    Any thoughts? Thx.

I realize this is in the PC forum, but didn't see any reason to re-post in Mac forum.

I just took a look at SB on V2018.12.13 on PC.

    I don't see your screen-grab, btw.

i wonder: did you lose ALL your column headings, or did Name Column remain?

also: If ALL your columns are shown but ALL became un-populated?

On pc We just right-click on Name > Choose Columns... All/None.

*Sometimes you can accidentally type an unusual character in the SB Search input box...that can appear to empty all columns of any data.

You might try tech support, this is exactly what that yearly fee is for.

No, they're populated. Switch to Frame View, and the window fills.

Don't see Name>Choose Columns to right click on, where should it be?

Tried that, you're right, but there is no characters in the search box.

No support fee, this is Media Composer | First  Smile

I think a new user setting might fix, but can't make one-no selection for one in Settings>User (see 2nd screen grab)

    Thanks, Chris

Chris, I don't have any ideas. I even tried to Google it, but I couldn't find your answer.  My guess is MC First has a limitation re: adding a new User, but I don't know.

You need informed support, it seems.

Suggest you post your question on Get Started Fast or Media Composer | First Forum areas, above.

    Good luck.

    Re: Source Browser.

    Hi,

I have written about it many times. Such situations happen and the best solution is incremental backup.

While you are making yourself a cup of coffee, I run restore and I can work again. See how much time and energy you are wasting unnecessarily. I use Paragon software. I run it once a week before turning off the computer that turns itself off.

    I highly recommend it.

    Re: Source Browser.

Well, this thread is over a year old, and I don't remember if I fixed it or not. I think not as I would have posted the fix. IIRC I tried messing with the user settings, trying to make a new user, but couldn't get anywhere. I think I finally gave up. I haven't used the software for awhile, was using Resolve.

I just launched MCF to see if problem was there, and now it won't launch, I get "Exception: MSM: No directory specified_3" which is a corrupt database (maybe) and I followed directions to delete databases with MSM but must have made an error, as ut still doesn't launch and now says a timecode generator template is missing. For one thing, I don't have my media drives with me (traveling)

I'm downloading 21.12.0 now to see if that fixes it. I'll try to report back... :)

UPDATE: I installed 2021.12 on my macOS 11.6 system and now in the Source Browser-Text View, all columns are again present.
