I am working on an archives documentary

The person who is in charge of archives needs an export of the film with source time code and source clip names burned on the video

The video archives are on tracks V1 and V2. On V2 are the B Roll, illustrations etc. On V1 are the archives with sync sound (mostly interviews, or live music).

I know how to use TC burning plug so i have set the plug to display source time code and clip names of V1, and source time code and clip names of V2

Everything is ok if I have a clip on V2 and a clip on V1,

When there is a clip on V2 and nothing on V1, the plug in displays the clip informations for V2 and "N/A" for V1 timecode and "Filler" for clip name", which is not ideal but it is OK

but if I only have a clip on V1, and nothing on V2, (which is the most frequent case) I was expected that the plug in displays clip informations for V1 and "N/A" + "Filler" for V2 , but this is not the case

The plug in displays twice the same information (V1 and V2), because if it doesn't found something on the highest track, it displays the informations of the lowest track

So most of the time there is too much information, which could be confusing for someone who doesn't know how all these things works...

Is there any solutions to display only TC and Clip Name of a specific track only if there is a clip on it, and N/A and Filler if there is nothing on it ?

I don't think the TC effect has 'if-then' logic.

Here's something to consider as a work-around: Put your TC effect on a single track for the entire sequence. Then make the TC effect work for your first clip. Now save the effect by dragging the effect icon to a bin and label it appropriately. Then go to where the TC window does not reflect what you want and insert an edit on the TC track, splitting it in two. Now modify the TC effect settings for the split portion to show what you really want at that point, save it by dragging the icon to a bin. Continue down your timeline cutting the TC effect and then dragging from the bin the particular TC effect you want at that point. You can save as many variations of the TC effect as you want, just drag and drop on the timeline.

I've tested the issue and confirm it does behave as you describe. No easy work around I can see.

I've posted it as a possible bug.

Here is my sleazy idea.

Move all V2 clips to V3 temporarily.

Make a clip of black media. Cut into V2 at the beginning of the sequence and add an effect to make it fully transparent (Mute MIGHT work). Copy this clip with it's effect and paste for the rest of V2.

Now go to V3, select all without gaps and move down to V2.

This would at least always give you something other than filler on V2.

No idea if this really would work, but hey ....
