The latest Mac update Big Sur has just been released.

Mainly preparing the OS for the new Apple ARM CPUs

But I'd holdoff upgrading until we know its approved (or at least trouble free) 

I know Media Composer is not certified for Big Sur, but at least on my Mac Pro 2019, Big Sur is a lot more stable than Catalina. The graphic drivers are better (no weird shifting of characters in fonts) and I don't have the occasional inability to wake up the computer that I had in Catalina. AMC so far is working well.

It seems some people have upgraded and see to be issue free. Avid are still working on testing and we expect to hear soon.

So its up to you if you want to try it.

Dongle drivers ( kext ) don't work on BigSur - so that's the biggest issue for me.

Currently in the middle of a contract, so probably not right now. But might install it once this one finishes and have Bootcamp with Windows 10 as a backup for future jobs.

I just updated to MC 2020.12 and reinstalled the Sentinel System Driver, but I still can't get my dongle license to be recognized on macOS 11.1. I rebooted and resynced Avid Link but it doesn't see the dongle at all.

There is no mention of any new procedures for Big Sur in the readme file.

Any ideas?

In BigSur - apple deprecated use some kinds of kext kernel extensions - sentinel driver is among them.

So there are two ways: install kext through recovery mode (advanced skill needed) or ask avid to give us easy instructions :)

Same with me. After installation BigSur, has no contact with the dongle. And reinstalling the sentinal driver does not help.

Yeah,different people have different experiences.
My Mac Big Sur was upgraded from Catalina,i did it twice before it succeeded,i don't think it has anything to do with dongle.

We already have a bug for the Dongle not recognized in Big Sur, if you don't have a case please email me so I can open one and add you to the list.
