    File export settings bug

We have 5 Mac systems that are all seeing this same issue over the past several releases: when we enter the Export to File dialog, sometimes the selected settings (saved previously) are ignored and the system attempts to export a different setting from the list. For example, we select our MXF DNXHD settings, but instead the system attempts to export using the "Link to Audio" settings. Often this occurs when switching between projects.

Our workaround is usually to step into the selected settings, where we see that the parameters do not match what was previously saved. We set everything back to how it should be. Save over the previous setting. Cancel out of the dialog. Then start the process over again and this time it will use the selected setting with the correct parameters. I say this is usually the workaround, because sometimes more is required, like selecting a different setting first, cancelling, then choosing the correct setting and modifying the parameters and saving over itself. Sometimes MC needs to be restarted.

This has become quite a frustration for our editors. Has anyone else experienced this? We wonder if it is unique to the MXF export. Any ideas for fixing?

By the way, we have created brand new export settings and we get the same results.

MC Ultimate versions 2020.8 - 2020.10 on (3) iMac Pros 2017, (1) Mac Pro 2013, and (1) MacBook Pro 2018 using Avid Nexis shared storage.

    Thanks!

I experienced this as well. I found a workaround:

Go to File - Settings - User. Under Export, tick the box of the setting you require, then when you go to Output - Export to file that setting will appear. You'll notice here that the setting you dont want that keeps appearing in the Export to file process is the setting that's ticked here.

If you create a new setting in the Export to file process, save it, exit from the process then do the above.

Any progress on fixing this? I have the same issue. You also cannot delete the other export settings like you used to be able to do.

    Andy et al

Logged as a bug and open and in progress to be fixed.   Bug # MCCET-3893  File export settings not sticking once you save as (OSX Catalina and 2020.X only)

I dont have any more info as of yet but ping me in a week or so and I might know more.  I do not believe it will be fixed by 2020.12.

I'm on MC 2021.2  Big Sur and I still see the issue too, but it seems to be slightly less frequent than when I started this thread.

Still having the issue in 2021.5 (Big Sur). I'm not a software developer, but surely this isn't a major problem to fix...?

I received this note from Avid on August 19:

Just an update. This issue has been fixed and will be available in the next release, 2020.12.4.

We'll let you know once the version is out.

The release number is a little confusing – is it supposed to be 2021? In any case, I have not yet been alerted that the new version is out.

    Re: File export settings bug

2021.9 just came out, so doesn't sound like that's the one they're referring to, although I haven't tried it yet.
