I've been checking out 2020.4, seems to be a huge improvement in some areas, I recently had to render a series of 22min shows to h264 then convert to prores, that were taking about 22-24 mins on 2019.12, and now I was able to render directly to prores 422 HQ (on Windows yay!), couldn't believe my eyes, in 3.5 mins! Lots of nice little improvements too, although I still cannot stand trying to use the Titler+, but one curiosity that will be a short term annoyance until I get used to it...why switch the 'open/ok' and the 'quit' buttons on the project startup screen? I've probably hit the 'quit' button 20 times in last couple days out of muscle memory.
The H.264 exporter also is very good. Now just needs a resize option.

no need to use those buttons...just highlight your project in the list and double click!
the time you enjoy wasting is NOT wasted time...

Other than that: in past releases, from day zero up until MC 2018, the Select Project window defaults to the last opened project, and pressing enter will open it. In MC 2020 the Select Project window defaults to "User Name", and pressing enter pops out a "The host name must not be blank" box, in other words one has to use the mouse to click on the desired project in order to open it, even if it is already selected. After decades of starting MC and pressing enter to begin the workday from where I left off the day before, I now have to engage the mouse, anyone else finding this rather annoying?

luca,
on my system, it always open with the last project highlighted, and hitting enter does the trick - everytime...

This was the same on MC 2019.x here, new user settings with both releases. Very weird... gremlins attack?

I created a case so support could look at this for you......
:)
Hope you are well my friend....

Hi Marianna, thank You for Your time, and, most of all, for caring. I'm the same as the last time You've heard from me, mostly jobless but at least keeping safe, how about You? Please stay safe!
After touviere7 posted I double checked the Select Project thing: by closing the "MediaCentral Login" clicking on the triangle next to it the "Select Project" window behaves like it always did, opening the last used project with the enter key. When I get the email from support I'll tell them about this, nevertheless THANK YOU!

Doing as well as can be expected Luca.... I did lose my Cato last week. He was one of my Cane Corso Italian Mastiffs. He was diagnosed with cancer a few months back and passed last Tuesday. Heartbreaking........ his sister Sophia, also a Cane Corso is mopey and clingy. though times on top of COVID.
My dogs are my world so hard to wrap my head around his loss as he was only 5.
:(

I am very sorry to hear this Marianna. A lot of strength in this difficult time!
Was looking forward to exporting in prores on a PC from MC 2020. But alas, no joy. Does not show up as an export option - just the usual suspects. Did I miss something? I even imported my media as prores 422. [edit] Oops - I see now. I had selected "Quicktime" vs "MOV" - when I did that I could then select ProRes as codec. I'll leave this here in case it helps someone else down the road.

I'm terribly sorry Marianna. I know what it is like and I am praying for you during your time of pain. Losing Duke was devastating to me, as you know. :(
