How to delete a specific effect when working with multieffects

So let's say I have 3 effects on a clip in the sequence.

I am in the effect editor and I can see all 3 effects. How can I delete one of the 3? If I press "Remove Effect" it will delete the effect that is on top of the 3. But let's say for example I want to delete the second effect, how can I do that?

There is a workaround with Step In and Step Out but this is too many clicks to do it.

Isn't there a more easy way? Like for example right click on the effect editor and press delete for example?

I thought you could delete stacked effects in the effects editor -- but it looks like that is not possibe.  This might be a good feature request.

Meanwhile, mapping step in, step out and delete effect to the keyboard will make the task less onerous.

While in Segment mode (red/yellow arrow), double click the clip in the timeline. It will expand with every FX on a sub-layer/track. Select the proper layer/track and press the Remove Effect.

If the FX is not shown, it may be a sub-layer of a sub-layer. Just double click to reveal.

Ok so no solution to easily remove any effect without stepping in. That is so weird to me, because you can so easily do that with audio effects in the Audio Mixer Console. Really. noone asked this before?

Yes...this is needed...being able to delete effects (or turn them off and on) without all these extra clicks, would be great..

    ...premiere has it...come on, avid.Yes

    What Dom Q. said...

    Dom Q. Silverio:
double click the clip in the timeline. It will expand with every FX on a sub-layer/track. Select the proper layer/track and press the Remove Effect.

... can be done without closing the effect editor and without being in segment mode. You might have to activate the timeline setting "Double-Click to Show Nesting". (I don't remember if that's a default.) I know, it's not the simple right click inside the effect editor and a bypass function would be nice. But maybe quicker in some way?

Re: How to delete a specific effect when working with multieffects

It has been asked for many times. The most effective solution is to implement what Resolve has - that is, both a toggle on/off switch for each effect and a trash can (to delete the effect). Most often I would like to disable an effect to gain some performance for trimming, etc. and then enable again (or remove). Anyway, I've never really been burdened with the way it is because I seldom remove effects once added, but when experimenting with different effect stacks, it would be rather useful.

Re: How to delete a specific effect when working with multieffects

My workaround is to go into effects mode so I can see all the effects applied to the ckip and then drag each effect into a bin I call "effects" and then delete the one I don't want from the clip and then drag the 2 I want to keep back to the clip. Takes a few seconds.

Re: How to delete a specific effect when working with multieffects

...or they could implement a system like Avid DS had over 20 years ago where effects stack up on top of the clip, are easily disabled, deleted, re-arranged, even trimmed to only span a portion of a clip...
