I'll hold off re-installing in case Roger's book turns up before the weekend - pretty sure it'll still be a boon; so much of the architecture has changed since I trained at VET in the late 90s, and have been missing a hard-copy manual since MC7.0...
(Thinking back 20 years to my first AvidXpressDV on a Dell laptop, with that brick of a 60GB external hard-drive that cost half as much again... and trying to telephone re-seller's helpline from Addis Ababa...)
Ramblingly yours - S
Just posting thanks all round - to Customer Care (once prompted to follow through by Raff Condalor) and to Roger S. for the book. Here's to finally doing some editing for the first time in months. Best to all
Greetings to all in 2022.
After a year, I tried again to create a simple roll in "Title T +" (MC2021.12).
Unsuccessfully again and I finished in Marque ....
The interface is completely non-intuitive, the reaction to editing both text and settings is appalling.
The whole MC application has crashed several times.
For God's sake, cancel this horrible project and create / buy something meaningful.

i think the fact its taking so long to fix what should be pretty simple, is a big tell. this thing is cursed and w/o rewriting the whole thbing - probably will never be a stable tool.
i mean, its a title tool for gods sake. youd think this would b the easirst thing to implement ever.
It's got slightly better - there is a video and sample book chapter on my website: www.avid-companion.co.uk. Maybe you'll even buy the book!
With best wishes, Roger Shufflebottom

Roger Shufflebottom:It's got slightly better
Thanks for the info, but it didn't calm me down much.
When I jump out of a skyscraper, it's also a little better at any moment, I fall from a lower height.
If I don't use a parachute, it won't help me anyway.
If it's easier to make color corrections, write captions, and complete a project in Resolve, it's only a matter of time before you learn a workflow that's easier to learn than T +, so that MC doesn't turn on anymore.
That breaking point can approach very quickly.
Each of us can write off the cost, in the 25 years I've been with MC, quite high - not just financial, if it stops making sense. Avid can make the same write-off that could help him as a result.
Not much of value to add here, I'm merely logging into every forum I can find to comment on what a despicable mess the Avid Title+ tool is. It's disgraceful. How they had the nerve to add the "+"...additional garbage? I've loved Avid for over a decade, but it is time they loaded up Premiere Pro and copied some of it's core interface.
Well you can do that if you wish but we are aware of the issues and understand your frustration. We also acknowledged it's taking some time to address the issues with Titler+. There will be an update coming by end of qauarter.
