Encode Footage from Dji Phantom 4 pro

    Hey,

im looking for a better codec to encode for the dji Phantom 4 pro. Im using the XDCAM HD 50 PAL i, but if i load it into avid the image starts flcikerin. Does anyone have a better codec?

I was filming in 4k 25p Pal and using Media Encoder

    Thanks

    Hi Max,

XDCAM 50 most likely doesn't do your footage any justice. Looking at your drone's specs, you shot a h.264 MP4 or MOV. 4kp25 is just the temporal and spatial resolution, be sure to be inquisitive about codec specs as well. Per specs your video is 60Mb/s, which is actually pretty low for 4K camera footage. DNxHR HQ will suffice to maintain the quality of your camera master.

For editing in Avid or Premiere Pro you should probably take it down to DNxHD SQ or so, depending on your machine. That is provided you feel confident in executing a proxy / offline-online workflow.

    Hope that helps.

    Cheers,

    Jannik
