I updated my OS to 10.13.4 and the MC started crashing at the end of an attempt to import media. So I updated the MC to 2018.5 but the problem still persists, even if I'm importing prores... Also my Appmanager doesn't sync to avid servers...not sure what's happened as all was well before the OS update...I've noticed too that the MC seems to suck alot more RAM now than it did?
Any thoughts?

Look under your licensed product. There should be a "Media Composer" entry there...

Update: I uninstalled and reinstalled and it seems to have fixed itself - a permissions issue? For the life of me I can't get the appman to sync though...

Try clearing the cache on the appman and if necessary quit out of both appman and appman helper.... Then try it again.

Have you noticed that there is the same problem with this new version than we had with the one before (and don't have with the v2018.3) : when you open MC it looks like you passe from an app to an other (like with Cmd+Tab) but not.
Ok it is not easy to explain so just an example : MC is open, you decide to go in MAIL then you can see the Mail' window with the 3 little points (red-orange-green) but for a strange reason all the points become grey (like you are on an other App) and go back in color (like you'r back to the App) without doing anything. And there is no end… And you have the same thing for ALL the other App.
If you leave MC every thing go back normaly.
I had the same problem on the v2018.4 (I made the update by the AVID APPLICATION MANAGER) and return to the v2018.3
So today I update my AVID to v2018.5 with the Disk Install downloading from AVID and I have the same problem.
So I return on the v2018.3

Where can I get v2018.5? I need a current version to activate a ScriptSync subscription but I don't want v2018.8 as people seem to have a lot of problems with it on Mac/iMac.
Download center only lists the very last version, unlike the old v8 where I can get any flavor...
In the Avid download center (not your account), under Avid Media Composer section, you have all the versions available:
http://esd.avid.com
v2018.x are listed at the end of the list.
Just note that the version 2018.7.1 is working well.
