Trying to export an AAF file from MC 2018.4 and everytime it completes, the application crashes. The exported files are all there in the aaf folder on my hard drive, but the aaf says "zero bytes" for the file size (not sure if this is supposed to be zero since it's a metadata file). Tried exporting with aaf protocol off and still get the crash. Here are my selected settings -
Include inactive audio tracks
AAF edit protocol
Include audio tracks in sequence - all tracks
Consolidate media
Handle length - 300 frames
Include rendered audio effects
Render all audio effects
Convert sample rate - 48kHz
Convert bit depth - 24bit
Convert file format - AIFF-C
Audio: folder - use same folder as AAF file
Thanks for any help.
Update: FIXED!
The problem was Media Composer was crashing when it tried rendering an audio dissolve. I rendered it before I exported the AAF and the export completed without issue. This sounds like it's definitely a bug in one of the newer versions of MC. Can someone from Avid open up a Case Report? Thanks.
Glad you got this sorted. Before escalating as a bug can you confirm that this export template is one you have used without issues in previous versions of MC (with similarly complex timelines)?
erik1185: Include rendered audio effects Render all audio effects
Thanks
Not sure if I had this issue before. Last time I exported an AAF was in September with the latest version of MC at that point. However, I may have rendered all audio effects for that export before making the AAF. I did not try exporting with either or both of the audio effect options unchecked this time.
Not seen this on any recent flavour of MC, on the PC though; not rendering audio fx/dissolves before or during export here.
