Hello,

Suddenly I was trying to drop a dissolve onto my timeline when suddently three new tracks appeared

They are labeled:  1.1  1.2 and 1.3

I would like to remove them but do not have a clue on how to do that.

I tried CNTRL + Z but does not make them go away.

Click the track selector button for the track you want to delete and hit the delete key.

Amazingly enough, when I opened Media Composer, those additional tracks were no longer there!

You could research stepping in and stepping out of a track. (they are controlled by little up and down arrow heads in the tools above the timeline)

They are labeled:  1.1  1.2 and 1.3

those tracks show as a result of inadvertently stepping into V1 (and consequently showing the individual layers that make up your V1. Possibly your media on the track was a title or matte key)  Simply stepping  out (or closing out of MC) will then have V1 only showing.

Aha! so that is why the tracks disappeared after I closed Media Compser, and came back to it later on.
