Hi!

I work on a project which was started in AMC 8.8, then switched to a different machine (OSX 10.9.5) with 8.6.x. We experienced repeated crushes, so we updated to 8.8.5. Not it's stable but I have an issue with linking footage.

My problem is that I can't get ANY file (dnxhd .mov, h264 .mp4, mp3, wav....) to be accepted through "link". I ALWAYS get the message "...cannot be linked. Do you want to import it?". Since it's a project with archive footage we start with low-res-references which are later to be onlined and for the ammount of footage there's just not enough time available to import everything that I need. 

I moved the footage to different places, but whatever the source the location (local, raid, server) the problem stayed the same. 

I work on OSX 10.9.5 on a MacPro, 2.7 GHz 12-Core, 64 GB 1866MHz. Updating the OSX is not an option, btw. Really hope that it's not what is at the core of the problem here. 

It's also the first time I work with the source browser, and I really hope that it's just some stupid detail that I have overlooked. I'd be thankful for any suggestions. 

Does the file path...folder they are in...contain any special characters, like !@#$%^&*() or the like? Avid hates that.  Also, are you manually choosing the AMA plugin...not AUTOSELECT?

Just tested on a MacBook Pro.  Linking didn't work on OS 10.9.5 and MC 8.8.4.  Linking works fine after updating the system to OS 10.10.5 and MC 8.8.5.

So, this unfortunately looks to be OS-related, which is too bad because I'm not in a position to upgrade all Mavericks systems just yet because of dependencies on other software/hardware.

Thank you. So my guess was right. Still sucks. There should be a warning when updating to newer AMC versions, though. 

You can try typing "ToggleHideLinkMenus" into the avid console and restarting MC. That will bring back the old link method under File - Input... it might work that way.
