    Source browser crashing

    Hi

I recently upgraded to Media Composer 8.8.5 and have not been able to open source browser at all, it goes directly into the wheel of death and stays there until I force quit the program. I have tried re-installing MC.

    Would apprieciate any suggestions.

See if there is something in this thread that could help.  Looks like they reverted to OS 10.10 and MC 8.6

Curious how you updated...through AppMan or uninstall / install.

I might suggest trying the latter if you used the former.

Remember you can option drag from the finder to Ama link, as an alternative. Not sur what the modifier would be on windows, alt perhaps.

Thanks Martin for the suggestion, this has allowed me to use the latest version, but thinking that it might have something to do with my os, I installed siera onto a clean drive, and installed MC 8.9 (this being the only  3rd party software on this drive) but I can't access MC at all, when I open a project the source window is already up and I get an imediate crash with the spinning wheel. it looks like its trying to read the media on the mac but just get the spinning ball and nothing is selectable.

Hi Kevin I have tried both installs, as long as I don't touch the source browser I have a working program but did notice the other day I tried to use some sound plugins and MC just stopped no spinning wheel no crash report .

    Re: Source browser crashing

Maybe you could try opening a project with the option key held down which stops any bins from opening, might stop the source browser  from opening, and you could at least be up and running.

Trashing the MC state file might help here too, ( I think there's one in the project folder and one in the application folder, try the MC state in the project folder first).

i thought it would help to have very few files for the  source browser to index, while trouble-shooting.
