hello i need to have my audio track at maximum level possible within accepted range
right now i am addin gain to all clips to have roughly them at aroun -9 db, and i have added a limiter at -9,3 to have them not more than this value
can i automate the raise part wiht an fx? the same compressor/limiter should be fine i think, is it?
do i need another session of fx or can i use in the same fx limiter and compressor?
thanks
Waves' MaxxVolume works wonders for this. And best of all, it's currently on sale for $25. Can't really beat that.

Nice tip, thanks Chris!
Are the Waves plugins available as both track and clip effects?

I'll answer my own question - Yes - Wave plugins come in both Track and Clip effects and they work very nicely inside Media Composer (and Resolve 14b4 if you're interested).
The Waves Central Plugin MaxxVolume does not correctly work with MC 8.8.4: It is available in the Audio Suite, can be applied and edited on a clip, however when I close the effect window with OK, the monitors get black and MC crashes. When I relounch MC, the effet has vanished.

I have the same issue with several plugins, including Nugen Halo, Nugen ISL and ISL2, Waves UM226, DTS Neural Upmix. I'm trying to get this up the chain, but have been unsuccessful so far. It looks like these plugins are addressing the graphics card. Other plugins (Avid Pro Limiter, Dynamics III) do not suffer from this issue.
I'm on a brand new fresh install of Win7 Pro x64 (ran critical updates before installing MC) on a new z840 workstation with M4000 graphics card and supported drivers.
Just to clarify: are you running two monitors, identical in pixel size? What graphics card (M4000 per your specs)? What version of MC? Does it work if you go back to 8.5.3 (that works for me, the issue started from 8.6.0).
I have Windows 7 SP1 64 bit, two monitors with identical pixel size, Graphic Card NVIDIA Quadro 4000.
I have no other Waves plug-ins. I have iZotope RX 5 Plug-ins, no problem with these.
MaxxVolume should work with Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.
MC 8.8.4 is not mentioned as host, some former versions 8.x are listed.
Has anymody found a solution to the problem mentioned below?
Because I can no longer install the software, Waves Technical Support wants to remotely connect to my PC to solve the installation problem. Before I let do it, I would like to know from others about the problem with Media Composer. If this still exists, I do no longer need to install MaxxVolume.
I can check MaxxVolume tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure the issue with the computer screens going dark is still there for some plugins. Looks like it might be related to the M4000 specifically. *edit* No, also on a system with a Quadro 4000...**

Waves Support writes:
"Are you using the effect as an audio track insert or Audio Suite process?" (I use Audio Suite).
"It might be cause due to the session crashing. I suspect some of issues you are facing are related to the graphics adapter."
I have nVidia graphic driver 353.82 for Windows 7 64bit, recommended by Avid for MC 8.8. The newest driver is 377.48.
Which driver are you using?
Bumped this case at support this week. Tried different drivers, I'm now on MC 8.9.1 with the recommended nVidia driver 377.11. Still the same issue.
Benjamin from Customer Support spent some on this, was able to reproduce and then also found the culprit: Classic Windows theme. As soon as you turn on an Aero theme, this issue disappears.
I hope they'll fix this, as I truly dislike how Aero looks and works, but for now, I can at least use a bunch of plugins that I was unable to, after 8.8.5
