I switched to Autodesk Flame in 2014 not long after Avid EOL'd their only NLE that has transfer modes.

I still use DS as Avid have yet to make anything that can do what it does.  I use MC also, as it's a great editor but all my finishing is done on DS.

    Re: Just wondered ...

Wow Tony ! you the man ! Still using DS that is awesome and I am impressed To be honest it could make sense in an Avid workflow as you say Avid never replaced or bettered it as a finishing tool. There are so very many things that are so right about the software and paint tool is brilliant . What a testament to the team that developed it. Still a really bad idea that they dropped it.

How is life with you ? Have you managed to survive during Covid ok?

    All the best

    Robin

    Re: Just wondered ...

Yeah, Covid hasn't got me yet Smile

It virtually killed the business though. 4 months with zero income. Moved the editing suite to home now and had to move the business to a much smaller unit (just for shooting corporate stuff).

I'm 65 in 11 days so I'm allowing the work to slowly wind down. Not intending to stop any time soon but I'm no longer trying to build the business.

    Cheers,

    Tone

    Re: Just wondered ...

I was lucky in that I had built an online suite at home 4yrs back and nearly all my work was happening there. Also, by chance my major client actually kept going with a lot of home shot web videos.

My favourite tool now is BMD which you can see so much has been copied from DS. Still so many little basic things that are not completed or as well-thought-out as in DS - but in many ways it is what DS should have been, just not as good as DS would have been. Ha!

A young family - so I have to suck up all the work that I can. I rarely touch Avid these days sticking with BMD or Premiere.

    Keep well

(crazy that the DS forum is running - when was DS EOL ? must be quite a while back now - wow I remember that day, even though everyone could see it coming I sure felt sick to my boots)

At our Post house we switched to Resolve from DS.

It wasn't great then but it did improve as the versions rumbled along.

    Its pretty good nowadays.

Pat I didn't realise you sold VET in 2016 - I have many happy memories of working there. BTW your link, in your footer, is broken, which is a shame because the training you do is very valuable. All the season's bestYes
