I am preparing a Keynote presentation and need to use some pretty old footage. I have some material that I only have as .m2v files. I can view these in VLC but can't edit them or import them into Media Composer. I have tried converting them in VLC and then importing into MC but the imported copies are unstable (juddery). I have MPEG Streamclip but it needs Quicktime MPEG-2 playback component to enable it to play these files - I believe that is long gone on my system.
Any advice on the best way to proceed?
Thanks

With all the variables here, it would be easier to solve in realtime remotely.

I might have got this to work but thanks for your offer of help. I'll keep that in mind.
I have used Squeeze for this when needed, the Pro version will create Avid MXF files / folders , just to drag the databasefile inside a bin and off you go.
