Upgrade to 8.8.1 on Yosemite or...?

Quite happily running MC 8.5.3  on a 27" Imac with 10.10.5 for some time now.

I want to upgrade to 8.8.1 though now, for the upcoming project.

Should I upgrade the OS too? I Don´t really feel the need.

FWIW I have been running MC 8.8.1 with OS 10.10.5 on 2008 MacPro since it came out without issues.

I would not upgrade the OS so i can downgrade MC back if needed.

I found El Capitan to be more stable and a big improvment over Yosemite. I've been running Media Composer 8.8.1 on Sierra (10.12.3) for a while and have had no issues. Plus, I love the additions and improvments in Sierra.
