    Happy Day - Nvidia 1080 Ti is Out

    I'm really stoked on this Nvideo 1080 Ti that's out today;

    $699... I thought they'd ask for more.  I'd love to see what the newer versions of Avid can do on this.

    If you are going to spent 700 it may be best to invest to a Quadro.

    An M4000 is around 800 at Amazon.

    I have yet to figure out why a Quadro card is needed, any longer. Yes, a Quadro is the only "supported" card, but, now that the consumer versions are 10-bit capable, it's possible to have extremely fast performance for a fraction of the cost of a Quadro. I'm running dual cards, one Quadro and one 1070 with no problems except that the have to manually select which card MC uses, since its only one GPU capable. I really wish Avid would write their code to use multiple GPU's.

    Better yet, hold out for the P4000, which will be released later this month.  It packs the same power as an M5000 into a single slot at half the price.
