MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

Good day! Avid, thanks for this release!

    しかし・・

I use some non-standard configuration of two monitors.

    1st - 3840-2160

    2nd - 2560-1440

After upgrading to 8.7, MediaComposer window no longer be stretched to a second monitor.

I understand that the reason is different resolution screens, but the previous version there were no problems.

Are there any ways (except for decreasing the resolution on the first monitor and the second purchase 4K)) to resolve the situation.

    All monitors connect to Nvidia GTX-750Ti via DisplayPort(4K)  & DVI(2.5K) drivers 368.81

    Thanks for any help!

Re: MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

I checked the status, and the new feature that you can now can change screen resolution without restarting Media Composer 8.7 made this happen.

We don't really recommend/support mixed resolution monitors. Because of if you expand the main window on the second monitor with such non-standard desktop configurations, significant part of the main window become "out of screen". Then, for some configurations, applying of default workspaces can place important UI elements this invisible part of the main window and there is no way to get it back.

So I would suggest using two monitors with same resolution for now.

..it might be something we will support in the future.

Re: MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

This is a very unsatisfactory answer.

Many people, including myself, use larger higher res monitors for the edit monitor.

Secondly, I regularly use Sony Catalyst Browse, Prepare and Sony RAW along with Sorenson all of which display 4K, the format I now shoot in. I understand Avid hasn't caught up with 4K yet, but it's an integral part of my post process and my Avid edit monitor shares duty with these other programs. As this has not been an issue in previous software, why not remove the "feature" in 8.7 that has made the program less useful? I have rolled back a version for now.

Re: MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

    yeah, really...

my simple basic set-up untill 8,7 was apple 30" as main (2560x1600) and apple 24" for source browser (1920x1200), and it worked pretty well...

i don't understand what was changed!!!

Re: MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

I also do not like this.  I have one editing room that is very space challenged.  Not enough room for 2 large monitors.

This change would require us to spend money on buying new equipment to replace working tools that were purchased to work with Avid's previous methods.

It seems clear that there needs to be development of a more flexible UI system.  See Adobe.

I absolutely agree with the previous messages of the "suffered" colleagues. We are waiting for a more loyal solution of the problem

Agreed. Also need to take into account users with setups that use a small laptop with a larger external display, where it cam be nearly impossible to match screen resolutions.

Re: MC 8.7 whith my dual screen configuration problem

    Any response from Avid?

This one seems like a no-brainer. Please remove the new "feature" from 8.7. I've been enjoying editing on my 34" LG 4K monitor for some time, not to mention using it to screen 4K material natively in others apps. Now a great leap backwards with 8.7. Makes no sense.

    Please respond Avid.
