Sony AMA Plugins replaced by nablet

nablet has taken over development of all Sony AMA plugins. You will want to replace your current Sony AMA plugins with new ones from nablet.

These codecs support MC v7.0.6, v8.3.1, v8.4.x and up running on macOS Yosemite (10.10), El Capitan (10.11) or Sierra (10.12). You must continue to use the Sony plugins if you are on Mavericks (10.9) or earlier, regardless of what version of MC you are using.

As these codecs cannot be installed simultaneously with the Sony plugins, you must first manually remove any Sony codecs. AMA plugins are stored in Library > Application Support > Avid > AVX2_Plug-ins > AMA.

nablet AMA codecs can be found here.

Someone's bound to ask, so here's the answer: No, they don't support XAVC-s.

    N Ryan:

    Neil.

Correct but emailed them direct and got a response regarding Avid/XAVC-S:

    "Hi Ben,

Avid confirmed that XAVC-S support in their QT plugin is under active development and will be released soon.
Thus it does not make sense for nablet to also spend efforts on a XAVC-S plugin.

    Regards,
    Peter"

Avid adding support for XAVC-S has been mentioned (along with a discussion regarding Sony/Avid XAVC-S support) in this Avid forum post (think the last page): http://community.avid.com/forums/t/129982.aspx?PageIndex=1 (6 or so pages dating back to 2014 but worth a read if wanting to understand/implement a XAVC-S work around).

Also noticed that Avid is releasing MC v8.7 soon (according to social media) and with the mention of Avid support for XAVC-S 'coming soon/(now) Q1 2017', may be there's something to when v8.7 is released.

    Avid MC v2019.9 / Mojo DX / Mac Pro 6.1 late 2013 / MacOS 10.12.6 / 64GB Memory / AMD FirePro D500 / 3GHz 8 Core Intel Xeon E5 / LG 34UC98 Ultra Wide Display... [view my complete system specs]

Hello. Though MC 8.7 release is iminent, it will contain support for XAVC-L only. As mentioned, we are working on support for XAVC-S but it will not be in in the 8.7 release.
