Hi All,
The Matrox MXO2 Mini is now a legacy product, and my understanding is that no new drivers are being developed for it. I can see the time in the not too distant furure when I am going to have to replace it. The question is what video output product is best. I shoot in UHD 3840 X 2160, and while at this point I am only outputting to HD, I would like to keep my options open.
What would you suggest?
Denny
I´m in the same situation with my units but as long as they works as terrific good as they do I´m rather calm, if I should get a hardware failure it´s important to have other options of course but I can still see the Matrox units being sold in different webstores so maybe that´s not a problem either .

Hi there Denny,
At AJA we have a number of solutions that may be of interest to you. There are two product lines that are applicable for your needs as an Avid user, namely KONA cards for desktop implementations and the Io product lineup for moble and Thunderbolt based workflows. Considering your desire to future proof your workflows for UltraHD needs, I would look at the KONA 4 on the desktop side and the most popular Thunderbolt product in the industry, Io 4K for needs on the mobile side:
https://www.aja.com/products/kona-4
https://www.aja.com/products/io-4k
Both products offer a wealth of features and are upgraded on a regular basis with free firmware continuously extending workflow capabilities. I would encourage you to visit our website to determine which may be best for your needs. The software for these cards includes the AJA support software for working with Avid products from Media Composer to ProTools.

I assume new MC versions are no longer tested against legacy Matrox products/drivers, so at some point, we will eventually reach a MC version that breaks compatibility with the Matrox 8.0 drivers (last v.)

At some point , maybe, but so far , I´m testing myself with all new builds , just watch the hoover scrub in the new Source browser, it wasn´t this good in the initial builds as it is now.
OK, when that happens, it will be time to change my main computer anyway
