    Media not supported by Interplay

I got the following error message in Media Composer during the Check In process.
Is it because of media greater than HD? I did have some of that, in DNxHR codec, in my Sequence. The Sequence & Project were HD.

This media is not supported for check-in in this configuration of Interplay Production. DIDWriter::DoSDKHWEncodeForCapture - SDK HW encode disabled

Media not supported because the VCID is dynamic.

Re: Media not supported by Interplay

    Hi again,

One of the interpay gurus, Ian provide this info...

    --------------

The error is referring to unsupported DNxHR media in the otherwise HD sequence (comprised of media that is supported in IP).  As you may remember, support for 30 UHDTV1 operating points of DNxHR media was added in Interplay Production 3.3. For a quick reference, check out p.10 here: http://resources.avid.com/SupportFiles/attach/Whats_New_Interplay_V3_3.pdf Perhaps, the specific .mxf/OP-Atom media they are working with is not on that list. In order to avoid errors at check-in, they will have to create or work with media that falls within these 30 operating points.  Exceptions to this would be to work with and relink to Op-1a camera original media by properly setting up the Interplay Production environment. Information on that can be found in Chapter 5 of the IP Best Practices Guide or p.99 here: http://resources.avid.com/SupportFiles/attach/InterplayBestPractices_V3_6.pdf Of note, the errors at check-in that are presented will/can change as a function of which combination of MC version is being run with which IP version.   -------------- What combination they you running, ex. MC 8.2.x on IP3.2.x… MC8.4.x on IP3.3.x… etc? Marianna

Re: Media not supported by Interplay

When I was finishing the Sequence (grading etc) there was linked DNxHR media used. When I finished with the Sequence, I transcoded the HR clips to DNxHD 185X and relinked to them.

After reading the response, I set the Timeline Clip text to only show Media Resolutions and searched for the text 'DNxHR'. It found a clip that was used several times. In the Sequence, the clip Media resolution was actually DNxHD 185X but keeping being found by the DNxHR search.

As a thought, I made a new Sequence. Using the faulty sequence as a Source, marked IN Out of the whole sequence, selected all tracks and cut that into the new Sequence. So essentially, I ended up with a duplicate of the faulty Sequence without duplicating...

This new Sequence can now be checked into Interplay. I can only assume that there was some stray metadata left in the the original Sequence after all its sources where transcoded.

I'll check what HR flavours we are using and I'll review the way we use greater-than-HD media in our workflow.

    thanks for the help.

Just been doing some research and some tests...

Am I right in saying that Interplay only supports a DNxHR FRAME SIZE of 3840x2160?

resurrecting this from the dead. I am doing some testing with IP v3.5 and your assumption that UHD and NOT DCI 4k is the only supported 4k resolution appears to be correct. No combination of transcode settings or client software versions allow me to check-in 4k DCI full or flat DNXHR media to interplay.

Agreed. According to the website, the point of reference is the document:
    http://resources.avid.com/SupportFiles/attach/InterplayBestPractices_V3_5.pdf
which specifies ONLY UHD frame size (3840 x 2160) and ONLY DNxHR codec. (We had some ProRes UHD footage that Interplay wouldn't accept.)

Re: Media not supported by Interplay

There has been an additional change to DNXHR Transcode support in v2018.6:

DNxHR and XAVC-I UHDTV 4k resolutions a Bug Number: DEFI-345, DEFI-430. DNxHR and XAVC-I UHDTV 4k resolutions are now supported in Interplay Transcode with the following limitations:

    • (DEFI-345) The version of Transcode used by Media Composer Cloud Remote does not support these formats at this time.

    • (DEFI-430) When using XAVC-I UHDTV as a target, you cannot transcode the same clip to both CBC and VBR.

Re: Media not supported by Interplay

My support engineer rolled the system back, from MC 8.6.5 to 8.6.3 and the problem is fixed!

I can now check in UHD frame size DNxHR media.

    Smiley face!
